Buying a Used E-Bike Far Away? How to Get It Delivered Safely

The best deal on the e-bike you want is rarely round the corner. Buying from further away opens up far more choice, but it means you can’t just pop round, test ride it and wheel it home. Here’s how to check it’s genuine, pay safely and get it delivered to your door.

The short answer: The safest way is to buy on Rydiqo®, where payment, Buyer Protection and delivery are built in. Buying somewhere else? Verify the bike and seller, pay in a way you can trust, then book Rydiqo® Delivery yourself: e-bikes are a fixed £89, door to door, tracked, with cover up to £10,000.

Step 1: Check the E-Bike and the Seller

You can’t inspect it in person, so ask for more than a few photos:

  • A live video call showing the bike, the battery powering on and the motor working.
  • A clear photo of the frame number, so you can check it against stolen bike registers.
  • The original receipt or proof of purchase if they have it.
  • Battery details: age, capacity and roughly how many charge cycles it’s done.
  • Photos of any marks, scratches or wear, taken in daylight.

Use our stolen e-bike checklist and used e-bike buyer’s checklist before you commit.

Step 2: Pay Safely

!

Bank transfers to strangers are very hard to get back if something goes wrong. Be extremely careful paying the full amount to someone you’ve never met for an item you haven’t seen, and walk away from anyone who pressures you to pay quickly or to use friends-and-family payments.

This is exactly why buying on Rydiqo® is safer: your payment is handled securely and Buyer Protection covers you if the e-bike doesn’t turn up or isn’t as described.

Step 3: Book Door-to-Door Delivery

Buying elsewhere? You can book Rydiqo® Delivery yourself as the buyer. Just enter the seller’s address as the collection and yours as the delivery.

1
Pick your item E-bike £89, e-scooter £79, electric dirt bike £139, e-moped £165.
2
Enter both addresses The seller’s details for collection, yours for delivery, with numbers and emails so both of you get updates.
3
Choose days and times Agree a collection window with the seller, then pick a delivery slot that suits you.
4
Pay and relax Instant confirmation email, tracked delivery, 1–2 days on average from collection.

Step 4: Check It When It Arrives

  • Record a timestamped video as you receive and unwrap it.
  • Check the frame, wheels, brakes, display and battery straight away.
  • Power it on and check the motor engages.
  • Report any delivery damage within 48 hours, with photos and your video. Every Rydiqo® Delivery includes in-transit cover up to £10,000.

Buyer tip: Ask the seller to send you their own photos on collection day. If the bike leaves their door in perfect condition, it’s much easier to show when and where any damage happened.

FAQs

Can I book delivery as the buyer?
