Good to know: it's legal to buy, sell, own and deliver a private e-scooter in the UK. Riding one on public roads, pavements or cycle lanes isn't: private e-scooters are for private land only, while government rental trials run until May 2028. So delivery is the way to get it to the buyer.

Why e-scooters are awkward to send yourself

  • You can't ride it there. Private e-scooters can't legally be ridden on UK roads, so "just scoot it over" isn't an option for a sale across town, let alone across the country.
  • The battery. Every e-scooter has a built-in lithium-ion battery, and many standard parcel services restrict or refuse items that contain large lithium batteries.
  • Size and weight. Commuter scooters often weigh 12–20kg and performance models far more, with long stems and wide decks that don't box easily.
  • Packaging. Finding a scooter box, padding it out and printing a label is a job in itself. On most bookings, our courier simply wheels it into the van*.

Getting your e-scooter ready.

  • Fold the stem and lock it in place, if your scooter folds.
  • Charge the battery partly, around 30–50% is ideal, not full and not flat.
  • Bag the charger, keys and any small parts together so nothing goes missing.
  • Take dated photos of every side, the deck and the display before collection.
  • Add any access notes (stairs, parking, gate codes) when you book.

E-Scooter delivery FAQs.

How much does e-scooter delivery cost?

E-scooter delivery is a fixed £79 anywhere in Mainland UK. That includes tracking and in-transit cover up to £10,000, with no fuel surcharges or oversize fees.

Can I post an e-scooter with Royal Mail or Evri?

Usually it isn't practical. Standard parcel services restrict items containing large lithium batteries and have strict size and weight limits, so always check the carrier's current rules. Rydiqo® Delivery collects the scooter as one item and delivers it ready to ride.

Is it legal to sell and deliver an e-scooter in the UK?

Yes. Buying, selling, owning and transporting a private e-scooter is legal. Riding one on public roads, pavements or cycle lanes is not, outside the government's rental trial schemes.

Do I need to box my e-scooter?

On most bookings, no. Our courier wheels it straight into the van. Just bag the charger and any small loose parts so nothing goes missing.

How long does e-scooter delivery take?

On average 1–2 days from collection. Our partner courier confirms the exact slot with both the sender and the receiver.
