How to Transport an Electric Dirt Bike in the UK
How to Transport an Electric Dirt Bike in the UK (Sur-Ron, Talaria & More)
Electric dirt bikes are brilliant off-road, and a pain to move. Most can’t legally go on the road, they’re too heavy for a car rack, and they’re far too big for a parcel courier. Here’s how to get one from A to B safely, legally and without a wasted day.
The short answer: Unless it’s a registered, road-legal version, you can’t ride an electric dirt bike to its destination. Your options are a van, a trailer, or a delivery service. With Rydiqo® Delivery it’s collected by van and delivered ready to ride for a fixed £139 across Mainland UK, tracked, with cover up to £10,000.
Why You Can’t Just Ride It There
Most electric dirt bikes, including the popular Sur-Ron and Talaria models, are sold as off-road machines. To ride one on a public road it would need to be a registered, road-legal version, with insurance, tax and the right licence. Ride an off-road bike on the road and you risk a fine, points and having it seized.

Your Options for Moving an Electric Dirt Bike
If You Move It Yourself: How to Strap It Down
- Keep the bike upright. Don’t lay it on its side.
- Use a wheel chock or push the front wheel against a solid bulkhead.
- Use at least two ratchet straps, pulling forwards and outwards from the handlebars or lower triple clamp, with soft loops to protect the bars.
- Compress the front suspension slightly so the straps stay tight over bumps, without bottoming it out.
- Switch the bike fully off, remove the key, and check the straps after the first few miles.
Loading tip: Use a proper loading ramp and get a second person to help. A 50kg+ bike slipping off a ramp is the most common way bikes, and backs, get damaged during a move.
How to Send It with Rydiqo® Delivery
How to Prepare Your Dirt Bike
- Charge the battery to around 30–50% and switch the bike fully off.
- Give it a quick clean. Heavy mud hides existing marks and makes condition photos less useful.
- Remove or secure anything loose: number boards, phone mounts, bags.
- Bag the key, charger and any spares together.
- Take dated photos of every side before collection.
Electric Dirt Bike Transport FAQs
How much does it cost to transport an electric dirt bike?
With Rydiqo® Delivery it’s a fixed £139 anywhere in Mainland UK, including tracking and in-transit cover up to £10,000.
Can you transport a Sur-Ron or Talaria?
Yes. Rydiqo® Delivery moves Sur-Ron, Talaria and other electric dirt bikes by van, door to door.
Is a Sur-Ron road legal in the UK?
Standard off-road versions aren’t. Some models are sold in registered, road-legal form, which then need insurance, tax and the right licence like any other motorbike.
Do I need to drain anything?
No. It’s electric, so there’s no fuel or oil to drain. Just partly charge the battery and switch it off.
Can I put an electric dirt bike in a car?
Some will fit in a large estate or van-style car with the seats down, but at 50kg or more they’re heavy and awkward to lift. It’s easy to damage the bike, the car or yourself.
