How to Deliver an E-Bike Sold on Facebook Marketplace

Sold an E-Bike on Facebook Marketplace? Here’s How to Deliver It

The buyer’s keen, the price is agreed… and they live 200 miles away. Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree are built around local collection, and plenty of eBay listings are collection-only. Here’s how to get the e-bike to your buyer safely, without losing a weekend to driving or falling for a courier scam.

The short answer: Agree the delivery cost with your buyer, make sure you’ve been paid properly, then book Rydiqo® Delivery. It works for sales made anywhere. Fixed prices (e-bikes £89, e-scooters £79), collected from your door, delivered to theirs, tracked, with cover up to £10,000.

The Problem with Selling an E-Bike Online

Online marketplaces are brilliant for finding buyers, but they don’t move the bike for you. Once the buyer is more than a short drive away, you’re left with three awkward choices: they come to you, you go to them, or you find a courier that can actually handle an e-bike.

Buyer collects

Simplest if they’re local. Further away, many buyers drop out once they work out the time and fuel involved.

You drive it there

You keep control, but it can cost you a full day plus fuel, and you carry the risk if it’s damaged on the way.

Parcel courier

You’ll need a bike box, a label and a carrier that accepts e-bikes and their batteries, which many don’t.

Rydiqo® Delivery

Book online even though you sold elsewhere. Door to door, tracked, cover up to £10,000, no box on most bookings*.

Step 1: Agree Delivery with Your Buyer

Sort delivery out before you agree the final price, so there are no surprises. The cleanest way is to quote the bike price plus a fixed delivery price. You can copy this message:

Message to your buyer

Happy to arrange insured delivery to your door with Rydiqo® Delivery. It’s a fixed £89 for an e-bike, tracked, with cover up to £10,000, and usually arrives 1–2 days after collection. Want me to book it once payment has cleared?

Either of you can make the booking. Whoever books simply enters the seller’s address as the collection and the buyer’s address as the delivery.

Step 2: Get Paid Safely Before It Leaves

!

Never hand over the e-bike until the money is actually in your account. Screenshots, “payment pending” emails and messages saying the money is “held until delivery” are classic Marketplace scams. Log in to your banking app and check for yourself.

  • Don’t accept a courier the buyer arranges “on their behalf” unless you’ve been paid in full. Fake courier pickups are a common scam.
  • Be wary of overpayments and requests to refund the difference.
  • Keep the whole conversation on the platform you sold on, so there’s a record if anything goes wrong.

Step 3: Book the Delivery

1
Choose the item E-bike, e-scooter, dirt bike, moped, battery or parts. The fixed price shows straight away.
2
Enter both addresses Your details as the collection, your buyer’s as the delivery, with mobile numbers and emails so both of you get updates.
3
Pick days and times Choose when it’s ready and the slots that suit each end.
4
Pay and confirm Pay securely at checkout and get an instant booking confirmation by email.

Step 4: Hand It Over Properly

  • Charge the battery to around 30–50% and leave it fitted.
  • Bag the charger, keys and any accessories together.
  • Take dated photos of every side and the frame number on collection day.
  • Send the photos to your buyer too. It builds trust and protects you both.

Next time, skip the hassle: list your e-ride on Rydiqo®. Payments are handled securely, Rydiqo® Delivery is built in at checkout, and buyers get Buyer Protection on every order, so you reach buyers across the UK, not just the ones nearby.

FAQs

Can I use Rydiqo® Delivery if I didn’t sell on Rydiqo®?

Yes. Rydiqo® Delivery is open to anyone moving an e-ride, battery or part, wherever it was bought or sold: Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Gumtree, a shop or a private sale.

Who should pay for delivery?

That’s up to you and your buyer. Most private sellers add the fixed delivery price on top of the bike price, so the buyer pays it.

Does someone need to be home for collection?

Yes. Someone needs to hand the e-bike to our courier, and someone needs to receive it at the other end. You choose the days and time slots that suit when you book.

What if it arrives damaged?

Every booking includes in-transit cover up to £10,000. The receiver should report any damage within 48 hours of delivery, with photos and a timestamped unboxing video.

Can you deliver an e-scooter or dirt bike I sold?

Yes. E-scooters are £79, electric dirt bikes £139 and e-mopeds £165, all fixed prices across Mainland UK.
